Mar 1 Sport fishing had the 31' Bertram out today with Captain Oscar looking for a 50th birthday present for their client. Kind of a side note but kind of a neat story as today's client also spent his 40th birthday fishing in Quepos, so it was good to see him back again

Well fish fans on his day the birthday boy managed to get, well les just say he was 0 for 3 and the wife was 2 for 2. I bet she's never going to let him forget that!!

Quepos Fishing Charter today captains and crews were fighting hard to getting the fish that they raised to take the bait. Boats again averaging 2-4 Sailfish Releases

Quepos Fishing Charter has much more to offer anglers than the world class bill fishing that we offer here in Quepos. Most people overlook the fantastic in shore fishing in Quepos as well as the fresh water river fishing.

Quepos Fishing Charter Fish Report January 9 2012

Quepos fishing we were hoping for the bite to pick up, but it seems to be slowing a little bit. Boats Fishing in Quepos today were raising an average of 8-10 sails and only releasing a couple of them.

Quepos Fishing Charter Fish Report January 8 2012

Quepos Fishing today had quite a few boats heading out to try their luck, which was good to see as here hasn't been a lot of boats going out here in Quepos as there usually is this time of year.

Quepos Fishing Charter Fish Report January 7 2012

Quepos Fishing Charter today we had Clients fishing on the Fastrak here in Quepos. For those o you who have had the chance to be onboard this Quepos Fishing Boat, you need to try it out great boat and crew.

Fish totals for today was only 3 for 7 on Sailfish, a lot of fish coming in to inspect the baits but with the full moon as of late they just don't seem to be doing a whole bunch of feeding. Over all though it is still promising to see the Sailfish up in the spread

Quepos Fishing Charter Fish Report January 6 2012

Quepos Fishing Charter was a little slower than the past few days, still lots o action but the hook ups were not as good as the sailfish just weren't cooperating for clients fishing in Quepos. Over all still a good day fishing with most boats releasing 5-8 Sailfish

Quepos Fishing Charter Fish Report January 5 2012

Quepos Fishing Charter Fish Report January 2 2012

January 2 we had a couple out on the Chasing Bills and what a day they had, lots of Sailfish up in the spread, they just weren't taking the bait. They did manage to release 2 of what seemed like 100 bites Today as the Sailfish completely destroyed Captain Tim's Ballyhoo supply on board the Chasing Bills

Quepos Fishing Charter

Quepos Fishing Charter wishes everyone a Happy New Year! We at Quepos Fishing Charter are hoping for a great season as we kick off a New Year here in Quepos, Costa Rica

Costa Rica Fishing Reports for the end of December 2011

December 29 Captain Oscar was out looking for some Sailfish in Quepos and after a very slow morning with nada managed to release 5 Sailfish in the afternoon. What a crazy day.

December 28 We had 2 boats out today. Captain Oscar released 7 sails 2 Mahi. Captain Melvin had our other group out for a half day in shore and managed 1 triggerfish

December 27 Fastrak had an amazing day releasing 7sails, 1blue Marlin and 2mahi. Now that's how we catch fish here in Quepos

December 26 Quepos Fishing Charters Report, with clients coming at 9 we had a nice easy morning today, calm seas, a little cloud and everything was looking good for their arrival. Over all on their half day in shore fishing with Captain Oscar on the Mar 1 releasing 2 of 4 Roosterfish, and losing a snapper after one look at the boat.

December 25 Quepos Fishing Report was a great one, the fishing has really picked up in Quepos as of late. Today we had a group of 4 out with captain Oscar on the Mar 1 for a full day of offshore fishing. When we met them in the morning I heard from them the one thing you don't want to hear and that was, we are going to catch fish right? I have been fishing many places in the world and have never caught anything. That's not good so my next question o them was, Do you have any bananas with you? Cause if so get rid of them now just in case. Off they went and managed to release 4 of the 7 Sailfish that they had a chance at, 3 for pictures and one released itself just as the mate touched the leader. Over all a great day in Quepos

Captain Tim on Chasing bills was also out today and went 0 for 3 on Sails, they did manage a Mahi- Mahi and did well bottom fishing as Captain Tim on Chasing Bills does always does with a couple amberjacks and a Snapper.

Quepos Fishing has picked right up, Sails and Marlin with some Mahi Mahi as well.

Fishing Reports from Costa Rica for the third week of December

Fishing Reports from Quepos for the third week of December and the bite rises for the high season

Third week of December and almost out of the rainy season in Quepos, Costa Rica but we are still receiving mostly nightly showers and mist during the day with more tourists walking the streets of Quepos awaiting the sunny, warm days of summer, and today was one of those nice sunny Costa Rica Days.

As we see the streets starting to fill up with avid fishermen, the bite here in Quepos has been pretty steady as of late, Offshore boats are getting multiple fish a day, Sailfish and Mahi-Mahi seem to be the main catch but there also have been some Marlin released as well.

The waters near Quepos have been brown with silt from the heavy rains and the runoff from the rivers and streams but that should be clearing up soon so the inshore fishing can once again resume so the fisherman can again enjoy the catch of a Rooster fish, Cubera, Snapper and other species.

By this time in December, the Papagayo winds that have arrived in the northwest Guanacaste area of Costa Rica forcing the sailfish and marlin south to Quepos and on to Panama. The Charter Boats are ready, the clients are here time to go fishing in Costa Rica!!

Fishing Reports from Quepos for the third week of December and the bite rises for the high season

Quepos fishing charter report for December 17 had Captain Oscar fishing offshore in the hunt for a Marlin or some Sailfish. Another group coming from Jaco today to join us here in Quepos for a great day of fishing.

As they headed away from Quepos the weather was beautiful and it was looking like a great day, and hearing reports of multiple Sailfish releases on Charter boats this week our hopes were high for them to have some good fishing today.

With their cooler loaded with reinforcement beer they loaded up on the Mar 1 in hopes to bring the cooler back without the beer and full of fish for a great supper. They were blessed with 2 really nice Mahi Mahi and were 0 for 2 on Sailfish, they just wouldn't cooperate today for us

Fishing Costa Rica Reports for the second week of December we were hoping that the fishing will pick up here soon.

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for December 11 2011, Captain Oscar had a Family out today on the Mar 1 for a day of offshore fishing. Return client to Quepos this guy had a great time last year releasing 3 sailfish and was back looking for a Marlin today. With a little rain in the day to keep everyone cool they did get a shot at a Marlin today, it wasn't a very long shot but they did see it, also they were lucky to go 2 for 3 on sailfish. Great group of clients we hope to see them again next year

Costa Rica Fishing Reports for us started out December here is Quepos well.. read on

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for December 10 2011, with only half of the clients this morning Oscar was off on a 3/4 day offshore. He was able to find some decent water close and started to fish. Definitely another slower day here in Quepos a couple light Sailfish bites and hooked and lost 1 Dorado

Quepos Fishing Charters Reports for us started out December here is Quepos well.. read on

Quepos fishing Charter report for December 9 2011, well the day looked better than yesterday...lol nice and sunny, only problem was where were the clients? As we watched the rest of the Quepos Fishing Fleet leave all I could think of was, I guess Oscar will know where the fish are when they leave.

Quepos fishing is always an experience and this group of 5 men are staying in Jaco, so I thought maybe they slept in for their Quepos Fishing Charter. About 8:00 they finally showed up, we got them loaded on the Mar 1 with captain Oscar and off they went. The fishing was slow again today, however multiple boats were able to get some Mahi-Mahi for supper and the clients on the Mar 1 were one of them. Sailfish were jumping and swimming but just weren't interested today, that big moon last night makes me think they were up feeding all night.

Quepos Fishing Report for December 8, Captain Oscar on the Mar 1 was In shore today with return clients from earlier in the week. All I can say for today was wet, 6:30 the rain started and we found the clients after getting soaked. When we asked them if they wanted to wait they said no way lets go, so off they went. With Rain most of the morning they had a few bites but after all of that the total for the half day In shore fishing was 1 Roosterfish

Quepos Fishing Charters Report December 7, Captain Tim on Chasing Bills was at it again. Lately the boats are having a hard time finding good clean water, Captain Tim was the top boat today as he found it and the clients were more than happy. Fishing Report totals for Chasing Bills today was 0 for 1 with a nice Blue Marlin, 0 for 2 on Sailfish and 2 for 4 on Mahi-Mahi

Quepos Fishing Report December 6 Captain Tim on Chasing Bills was out looking to make clients happy today, and with a slower than usual bite we were hoping them the best. The days fishing report from Captain Tim was 2 nice Mahi-Mahi and 0 for 2 on Sailfish

December 5 Quepos fishing report, what a beautiful morning, blue sky and a few clouds off to the west so we hoped we were going to be fishing with the cloud cover. Clients aboard the Mar 1 were from a small town in Saskatchewan, Canada and were used of fighting Walleye, did we have a surprise for them.

As we headed Offshore we saw a sailfish jumping at about 14 miles, and then a couple of rays jumping, but we were headed a little farther as the reports were that the fish were out another 10 miles or so. We stopped and set out lines to start the day, Captain Oscar on the Mar 1 was not really happy with the water quality but we did see some garbage left from a shrimp boat so we thought there may be some Mahi-Mahi hiding under it. Well the Mahi-Mahi weren't cooperating today so we kept trolling out.

Then we started hearing other boats seeing fish in about 40miles so that's the direction we headed. Once we got there we were able to find some good clean water and things were looking up. After a really slow morning for everyone finally there was a report of a Sailfish released, then a Marlin hook up and just as fast it spit the hook.

We were watching the spread and out of nowhere we saw a bill on the 80, off to the right side teaser, then to another bait, then to the other side and the Marlin made its decision and one of the 50's started to scream, the mate let it free spool for a minute and as he tightened down the drag Captain Oscar gunned the Mar 1 and drove the hook home, after just over an hour fight this amazing 300# (estimated) Blue Marlin graced the side of the Mar 1 with its presence and we got a couple pictures for the client and off it went.

December 1 Quepos Fishing Report wasn't a great one, but with a lot of rain yesterday the water wasn't the best. Today Captain Oscar on the Mar 1 as well as another bigger charter boat as well as 2 smaller boats were fishing in shore. And to say they tried everything would be an understatement, close to the river, close to the rocks, water breaks.... and 1 boat managed a nice Rooster fish and a Mackerel, everyone else nada. Wow that's not the start we were hoping for now was it.

Quepos Fishing Reports for the end of November 2011

November 30 we were hoping to head offshore with Captain Oscar, unfortunately with a last minute cancelation, we never made it. I feel bad for the client come to Quepos to get sick and miss out on your fishing charter.

Luckily for us today Captain Tim on Chasing Bills was out for another short day and managed to get 2 more nice Mahi-Mahi

Quepos Fishing has picked right up, Sails and Marlin with some Mahi Mahi as well.

November 29 Quepos Fishing Report Captain Tim on Chasing Bills had a 3/4 day so they stayed close and were rewarded with 2 nice Mahi - Mahi in the 40# range and then stopped at the "honey hole" on the way back to Quepos and managed to get another 5 Snappers for dinner

Quepos Fishing Charters was able to have the Mar 1 out on 2 days this week and with a strong bite and a good looking moon phase we had our hopes high for Captain Oscar

November 23 we had a couple guys out on the Mar 1 and one of which had never been on a boat, or had never caught any sort of fish. Well the bite wasn't really good today we managed to get him a fish, a nice Mahi-Mahi. So we managed a couple Mahi Mahi and a few Sails bit but we couldn't manage to get a good hook set into any of them.

fishing-report fishing-report

November 25 we had a single going out with Captain Oscar on the Mar 1, again a day where the bite wasn't really great, most boats were only managing a fish or two. Captain Oscar managed to get hooks into 4 of 5 Sailfish that they raised, and released 2 of them, another great day in the Mar 1 with Captain Oscar.

Fishing Reports from Quepos fishing charters for the third week of November

Fishing Reports from Costa Rica for the third week of November and we are hoping that the strong bite stays with us. With boats releasing an average of 6 fish per trips it was going to be interesting to see how this pace would last. The bite stayed consistent and anglers were getting great experiences here fishing in Quepos. Charter Boats were keeping up with the pace catching Marlin, Sailfish and Mahi-Mahi

Quepos Fishing Reports for the second week of November

Quepos Fishing Reports for the second week of November continued to be fantastic! Another week of Quepos Fishing with multiple species in a single day fishing in Quepos. The Marlin bite wasn't as strong but anglers were rewarded with Sailfish, Mahi-Mahi, and Tunas again.

Quepos Fishing Reports for us started out November

Quepos Fishing Reports for us started out November with some extremely happy clients. Boats were getting a few Sailfish and a couple Mahi-Mahi, with a shot at a Marlin in single day Fishing Charters. Some were rewarded with double Marlin hook ups, and then Sailfish, Mahi-Mahi and Tuna as well.

Quepos Fishing Reports for the end of October 2011

Quepos Fishing is heating up as the Marlin bite starts to heat up. The Mahi Mahi are also starting to move in as well.

Quepos Fishing Reports from Costa Rica for the third week of October

Quepos Fishing Reports for this week were few and far between with the slow season upon us. There were reports of Marlin, Sailfish and Yellow fin Tuna this week.

Quepos Fishing Reports for the second week of October

Quepos Fishing and the Sailfish bite continued this week, along with a few boats getting the odd Marlin bite and landing some Yellow Fin Tuna.

Quepos Fishing Reports for us started out October

Quepos Fishing started out for us with a great day on the second, clients were able to release 2 of 4 sails and lost a Blue Marlin

Quepos Fishing Reports for the end of September 2011

What a week we had in store for Captain Oscar on the Mar 1, three trips in total two inshore trips and one Offshore trip so we were hoping that his experience would keep the clients on the fish and have them coming back again.

The week started out with an inshore trip for Rooster fish and the client planed on bringing his two daughters with them, and we all know how much fun it is to have them out as they get so excited and it is so much fun to watch. Unfortunately this morning had a little rain in store for them and they decided to not go out. Too bad as the other boats that did go out had great days.

Mid week we had a Charter that was heading Offshore, and did they ever have a great day. With a total of 7 Sailfish bites they managed to fight five of them, only two made it to the boat for release but still a busy day in the pit. They also topped the day off with 1 Mahi Mahi for supper so it was an amazing day fishing here in Costa Rica with Mar 1 Sport fishing.

The end of the week ended with a bag for clients Inshore fishing with Oscar, they had numerous battles with the big release of about a 60# Rooster fish To top this already great day off fishing here in Costa Rica they were blessed to get an up-close view of a Whale and her Calf playing just off the coast, an amazing experience.

Quepos Fishing Reports for the third week of September

We continue the reports from Costa Rica this week with our mouths watering as the Mahi Mahi have seemed to grace the fleet with their presence. There were still multiple Sailfish days for most boats with the odd shot at a Marlin thrown in for some excitement.

Inshore fishing in Costa Rica was also strong this week with some nice fish being released on a daily basis. Rooster fishing was good this week with some quality catches as well as some Snappers off the rocks.

Quepos Reports for the second week of September

There were a lot of great fishing reports coming in this week. Boats in Quepos were catching not only a few fish but a few species this week. Multiple boats were catching Sailfish, Marlin and Tuna all in the same day. Now that's a great day when you catch multiple species in a day.

Quepos Fishing Reports for us started out September 2011

We were happy to get first hand fishing reports from Captain Oscar a couple times this week. Mar 1 Sport Fishing was host to a couple groups this week, one of was a group of 10 going on 2 boats on the second. The fishing was good on the second for us, well better for some, the Mar 1 went 2 for 5 on Sailfish and the other half managed 0 for 3, they just wouldn't stay on for them.

On the fifth we had a group of 5 on the Mar 1 with Captain Oscar and they managed to release 5 of 7 Sailfish, now that's a good day in September here in Quepos.

Quepos Fishing Reports for the end of August 2011

Another week of good numbers, however they fleet had to pick their battles, the trolling bite wasn't great this week in spots but the bottom fishing made up for it. Reports still had Marlin, Sailfish in them with a mix of Snappers, Amberjack as well.

Fishing Reports from Quepos for the third week of August kept the numbers up

With the fish count pretty consistent this week , there were still some up and down days as there always is. There was more snapper in the reports this week, I would say this was from more bottom fishing with a little slower trolling bite.

Captain Oscar on the Mar 1 managed to go 2 for 3 on Sailfish and got a couple Yellow Fin on on3/4 day offshore

Quepos Reports for the second week of August were climbing

Well the fish were back this week, there was 1 fishing report this week that had 9 Sailfish releases that day. There were also a few Marlin to report as well as some Mahi Mahi in the mix

Captain Oscar was out this week on an inshore trip and with the rains the water wasn't great but they still managed to release a couple of Rooster fish and a couple snapper

Quepos Fishing Reports for us started out August a little slow

Reports for this week weren't really hot, however the fish that were being caught were quality fish. Some Sailfish upwards of 150# and a couple Marlin upward of 500# so there were definitely some tired fisherman at the end of the charters.

Fishing Reports for Quepos the end of July were as great as the beginning of July

Reports for the last week of July were full of Marlin, Blue and Black, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna and the list goes on. What a week for clients out imagine a day where you catch a Marlin, a couple Sailfish and then finish the day off picking Yellow fin tuna out of the school that the Captain spotted for you??

Quepos Fishing Reports from Quepos were a little slower the third week of July

With the bite slower for Marlin and Sailfish the fleet was forced to try some bottom fishing to get the clients on fish. Quepos also offers some great places to do this as well so the boats were successful in their trips, lots of Snapper and Amberjacks this week

Reports for Quepos second week of July kept rolling in with great numbers

Clients fishing in Quepos this week were graced with Marlin, Sailfish in some pretty good numbers this week, there was also a couple of successful bottom fishing reports to brag about

Quepos Fishing Reports for us started out July with a bang

The fish were biting in Quepos this week, and Captain Oscar was there to catch them. The second they managed to release a nice Blue Marlin and went 1 for 2 on Sailfish. The sixth they were on the hunt for Rooster fish and managed to release 2 of 4.

Fishing Report from Quepos, Costa Rica Last week of June 2011

Fishing Report for the last week of June was a good one for Captain Oscar on the Mar 1 as he got the chance to test out the fishing report for himself this week. The clients managed to release 1 of 5 Rooster fish bites on a half day Inshore trip. Then he was excited to spend a day Offshore looking for that increasing Yellow Fin tuna bite he was hearing about, they were able to release 1 of 3 sails and 1 nice Yellow Fin tuna. The clients took the fish to a local restaurant, the lucky souls as there is nothing better than fresh Tuna

Quepos Fishing Report from Quepos, Costa Rica Third week of June 2011

Fishing Report for the third week of June, the bite was good and strong this week, and there was an increasing Yellow Fin tuna bite so that was keeping the clients busy with action. Sailfish still out there to be had, but not in real good numbers.

Quepos Fishing Report from Quepos, Costa Rica Second week of June 2011

Fishing Report for the second week of June, wasn't really hot, but what can you do. With it raining here in Quepos this week the water for inshore wasn't all that good. There was still fish being caught there just wasn't great conditions.

Quepos Fishing Report from Quepos, Costa Rica First week of June 2011

The Fishing report for the first week of June has been steady. Sailfish were still being boated and there were starting to be some Yellow fin Tuna being caught as well. Inshore bite was not really great but there were still some Rooster fish being caught on half day charters as well

May Quepos Fishing Report Here

Quepos Fishing Report May 29 2011

Quepos, Costa Rica Fishing Report completed the month of May for us here in Quepos, and it was definitely one that kept the team hopping.

Return clients for us on this day and they were looking for another stellar day of fishing with us here in Quepos, Costa Rica with Captain Oscar. The last time they were here back in January they wanted a Marlin but managed to go two for two on sailfish, one of which was in the 160 pound range!!

Fishing was not what the hope was today friends, catching is what they were going to do and the determination was high, and they wanted their Marlin. And they got their wish, well sort of, and when they saw the monster in the spread they were frozen with amazement when that big head stuck it's head out of the water to take the bait, and when the hook was set they were ready for battle.

Marlin are always an amazing sight to see and when this one was hooked it was not planning on giving in quickly, unfortunately after about 20 Min the Marlin today proved to be an elusive catch, it gave a couple head shakes, and that feeling that no angler likes of a slack line over came the angler and all they could do was go after another one.

Fishing Report for today the total was one for one on sailfish, and zero for 1 with that massive Marlin, they will be back to try again I am sure of that. We would like to thank Captain Franklin on the Big Eye for looking after these guys for us today

Quepos Fishing Charter May 19 2011 Fishing Report

Quepos, Costa Rica Fishing Report was one more shot in the hunt for the great Rooster fish here in Quepos. The Rooster fish had been eluding Captain Oscar as of late so I think he was on a mission today.

Get to the Mar 1 and just shortly after we show up so does the bait so we were off to a great start. Another rocking and rolling day here on the water but they managed to have a Great day with a couple Rooster fish and a Spanish Mackerel.

qurpos_fishingqurpos_fishingqurpos_fishing

Quepos Fishing Charter May 16 2011 Fishing Report

Quepos, Costa Rica Fishing Report we had another purpose today and that was an offshore fishing hunt for some Sailfish or Marlin.

Wow when we got to the Mar 1 this morning the seas were angry, big waves and some wind to go with them. Looking out across the water it looked like it may be a bumpy ride for the run out to where we intended to start out for the day.

Captain Oscar was right and it was a slow bumpy ride out and once we got out there it was rather rough as well for here, but it was still fishable quite easily so we set up our spread and awaited our first strike.

The Sailfish were hungry this morning and we got our first hit quite early, it started at the right teaser and managed to strip off 4 baits before heading off back into the blue abyss. We reset the baits and went back to waiting for the big one.

Second Sailfish Came in on the left teaser and too a pitch bait poppy threw in its mouth and we were hooked up and the fight was on, after a good fight the fish was landed and it wasn't a huge Sail but it sure had great colors.

We managed a couple other bites in the morning and then the bite turned off and it was a long afternoon of rocking around. Over all we managed to land 1 of 3 of the Sailfish that were hooked and had a great day out fishing in Quepos, we also managed to get another "First Sailfish" for another satisfied angler on the Mar 1

Quepos Fishing Charters May 10 2011 Fishing Report

Quepos, Costa Rica Fishing Report for today we had a mission, we were after Rooster fish here in Quepos today, we had chosen our target set our sights and were good to go.

Quepos had a huge rain storm overnight that was nice enough to cool things off a little for us, the fear was it going to affect our fishing, as the rains here in Quepos when they decide to come down can, and do drop inches of rain in a short couple minute burst and all that water has to go somewhere.

On our arrival for fishing we went to the boat and got the news that we definitely didn't want, with the rain last night they were unable to get us any bait last night, not good . OK so with the plan to target Rooster fish almost totally gone we were off looking for some bait.

We were able to locate some nice size schools of Sardine and once we got a few in the live well we decided to head to the rocks and see what we could tie into. With in minutes we had one bite that tore off 300 feet of line quicker than you believe, and with the light line used for Inshore fishing we just didn't have the ability to stop the fish from heading right into the rocks and was able to cut the line on us.

We managed a couple other bites but were out of bait a lot sooner that we had hoped, so we decided instead of going to look for more sardines, and headed to Basins to do some snorkeling instead. Rough life here in Quepos, Costa Rica

Quepos Fishing Charters May 6 2011 Fishing Report

Costa Rica Fishing Report for May 6 we were able to get a guy out that wouldn't have fished if we couldn't have got him a split.

Off we went looking for some Rooster fish for the day, we were blessed today with great weather here in Quepos, Costa Rica nice overcast perfect day for fishing.

Quepos Fishing Charters as of late the bite has been really hit or miss with more misses than hits, so we were hoping today to get on a hit day for these 2 guys.

Well we did manage to get a bunch of hits but didn't manage to get anything to the boat on this Quepos Fishing Charter, and as much as we hope all our clients get those fish if their dreams, sometimes that's fishing.

Quepos Fishing Charters May 3 2011 Fishing Report

Costa Rica Fishing Report for May 3 was a day where we weren't expecting a Fishing Report... However we managed to drag one up, funny how that works.

With friends in town we decided to go have a little tour on the Mar 1 with Captain Oscar. So we toured the coast for a few miles to see show off some of the amazing scenery we have here in Costa Rica.

We had just come around a point and Captain Oscar says hey lets go check out the shrimp boat that's just over there and see is we can't get a couple Jack off a Rapala ?

So off we went to go try, and when we got to the boat there wasn't much happening we trolled around it a couple times, but there wasn't any fish there, we did manage a nice bucket of fresh shrimp though that's always nice.

Quepos Fishing Charters May 2 2011 Fishing Report

Costa Rica Fishing Report for May 2 is quite a report, and it was also a challenge to write, but here it goes.

OK fans here we go so we were off to the Airport today and went to put the clients on the Mar 1 with Captain Oscar before we headed out. Clients today were a referral that we got last night from some friends and after I hung the phone up from booking them had a weird feeling about the booking

Quepos, Costa Rica was beautiful this morning and the birds were out singing at it looked like a day where there was going to be some fish caught, we had some live bait for the Roosters and some Rapala 's if that didn't work to scare up some Mackerels.

To make this short sometimes you have good clients, and sometimes you just can't please everyone, but fans let me give you some advice, if you start yelling at the Captain cause you haven't caught any fish in the first 20 minutes of fishing..... probably not going to be a great day for anyone here in Quepos Costa Rica.

April Quepos Fishing Report Here

Quepos Fishing Charters April 25 2011 Fishing report

Quepos Fishing Reports we had a split group on board for a day of fishing here in Quepos, Costa Rica

The bite here in Quepos, Costa Rica Offshore has been fairly steady as of late from the reports we were getting so we were hoping that we could get these guys on some nice Sailfish or Marlin .

OK fans when you get to the dock in the morning here in Quepos and your clients are telling you how they have been fishing all over the world and have had no luck and they are hoping to break that cycle....oh my this is going to be a long day

There are times that whatever you do is totally unnoticed by anything with gills, live bait, ballyhoo, change the teasers, nada try something else, still nada. As Captain Oscar would say some people are just a "gata Negro" or black cat and it doesn't matter what you do, you still come up with a blank.

At the end of the day the clients had a blast, as a matter of fact we just about had to help them off the bow of the Mar 1, they were having so much fun they didn't want to leave. They got the opportunity to swim with Dolphins, they saw al kinds of Sea turtles and had a all around great day, they just didn't get any fish.

Quepos Fishing Charters April 24 2011 Fishing report

Quepos Fishing Reports we had a family on board for a day of fishing here in Quepos, Costa Rica

The bite here in Quepos, Costa Rica Inshore has been fairly steady as of late from the reports we were getting so we were hoping that we could get this family on some fish .

The plan for today was to make sure we got the 2 little ones on some fish, watching the little ones for me is far more fun than catching fish myself, they get so excited. This family had spent a couple days Offshore here in Quepos so we definitely had our work cut out for us as both of the little ones had landed Sailfish in the previous days.

When Oscar spotted a shrimp we knew that would be the spot to get some rods bent over, and were we right. The total fish count was lost as there was just to much action to keep track, it was Jack after, Jack, after Jack in fact there was so much action that they called the day early and came home. They did manage to get some nice Lobsters for dinner from the shrimp boat!!

Quepos weather for today was nice and a little overcast so they didn't get too burnt today fighting fish in the early hot afternoon.

Quepos Fishing Charters April 21 2011 Fishing report

Quepos Fishing Reports we had a couple of guys onboard the Mar 1 with Captain Oscar from Barcelona, Spain for a day of fishing here in Quepos, Costa Rica

The bite here in Quepos, Costa Rica was fairly good this morning, there was fish in the spread and they were a biting.

Quepos weather for today was nice and a little overcast so they didn't get too burnt today fighting fish in the early hot afternoon.

So the morning bite the crew on the Mar 1 went 1 for 5, the Sailfish were in the spread but they just wouldn't commit to the bates. Then shortly after lunch it was like someone turned off a switch and boom, nada so it was a long after noon. They managed to raise one fish in the late afternoon and weren't able to hook up but at least it broke the afternoon up.

Quepos Fishing Charters April 11 2011 Fishing report

Quepos Fishing Reports we had a split boat today a nice young couple and a couple of other guys that were more than happy to fill in for a day of fishing here in Quepos, Costa Rica

Today was one of those days that everything just looked right, and "Big Red" was telling us that the bite was picking up so it looked like everything was falling into place for this group on their Quepos Fishing Charter.

Quepos weather for today was nice however it sounds like they had a wet day Offshore, but the fish were biting, too bad the clients weren't able to get everything to the boat. However they did get some different stories than most do on their day of fishing here in Quepos.

With the action on this Quepos, Costa Rica Fishing Adventure we are going to have to split things up and we will start with the weirdest part of the day.

Wahoo bites were 0 for 1, however this was not because of angler, equipment or any sort of other malfunction, the fish was just on the surface when all of a sudden out of nowhere comes "Flipper the dolphin" and actually steals the Wahoo??? What the....

Mahi-Mahi were 0 for 2 and one right at the side of the boat and the other was released about 20' from the boat when it jumped clear out of the water and spit the hook.

Sailfish were 2 for 4 and the 2 that didn't make it to the boat still got the blood flowing for the anglers fighting them.

Quepos Fishing Charters April 6 2011 Fishing report

April 6 2011 Quepos Fishing Reports was a day that we were waiting to see how it turned out, will Mr.. Popi have what it takes to fill in for Vinny???

Quepos fishing Charters clients today were a family of 4 so we were Lucky again to be a part of these young people hooking up same great fish here in Quepos.

When they returned back to Quepos we could see that they had had a great day, they saw Dolphins, Turtles, and above all they got to catch some nice fish. So maybe Popi still had what it takes... however he was definitely the most tired all the group, poor Popi...

The totals for this Quepos, Costa Rica Fishing Adventure was 2 for 4 on Sails and a great time with Captain Oscar and Popi on the Mar 1 Sport fishing 31' Bertram

Quepos Fishing Charter April 4 2011 Fishing report

April Quepos Fishing Reports we had a father and son duo today looking to tear it up with Luis and Johnny on the Mirse Azul.

Quepos fishing is always exciting, however today was even more so as we had the Father and son team that were so excited that I don't think either of these guys slept the night before.

Sometimes when we load customers on any boat for their Quepos Fishing charter it is like playing Santa Clause, and today was one of those days, I wasn't sure who was more excited the dad or the son, but we knew that the boys would get them on some fish.

Fish count today was 2 nice Roosters and 6 Spanish Mackerel, these guys were super pumped and we were glad that we made their Costa Rica Fishing Charter the Dream that they were looking for.

Quepos Fishing Charter April 2 2011 Fishing report

April Quepos Fishing Reports started out for us with a day of fishing for the owners and crew of 2 of the local Quepos Fishing Charters Fleet.

Today we were going out on the Pez Rey with Captain Pepsi, Owner Justin and Representing the Mar 1 Sport Fishing Team was mate Vinny and Owner Mark.... Today was the first day I actually went to fish since we got here so it was about time!!.

The plan was to hit the sardines hard then head to the river in search of some Snook, after Pepsi tried a couple of times with the net that were unsuccessful we started throwing Sabikis and did we have some luck, in no time we had the bait well full of Sardines .

After we spent about an hour with the local Cost Guard doing their rounds, we decided that they had taken up all of our good "tide" we decided to not let them completely ruin our day and headed out to the 26 rock for some bottom fishing

Quepos Fishing Charter report for today was a great one, the total fish count was 2 Amberjack, one of them in the 60# range, 2 Mullet Snapper that were caught in a feeding frenzy boil on the surface, was that a great sight to see. 1 Jack Crevalle, 1 Yellow Tail Snapper and 1 Grouper that we thought was lost in the rocks but we finally got him out

March Quepos Fishing Report Here

Quepos Fishing Charters March 29 2010 report

March 29 Report is full of some more great Quepos, Costa Rica fishing Pictures. The fish count was lost and all we got was 2 Roosters and a ton of Jacks.

Day 4 for these guys Quepos Fishing Vacation and have they been having some great fishing this week. We managed to stay inshore today to get more of an experience while they were here in Quepos, Costa Rica.

If there is one thing I can tell you for sure this would be it, if there is a fish within 50 miles of Quepos, besides a monster Marlin that has a flair in the way it say Welcome to Costa Rica it is the mighty Rooster fish that inhabit the inshore waters here in Quepos.

Today on day 4 2 of these lucky clients got to scratch Rooster fish of their list as caught as they managed to wrangle up 2 nice Rooster fish, and they never really got a good count of the countless number of Jack Crevalle they caught today

Quepos Fishing Charters March 28 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charters March 28 Report is full of some GREAT Catches, some big fish here boys and girls. A Report full of Big Roosters and a nice Barracuda.

Today's Clients were here in Quepos, Costa Rica fishing last year and had a great day with 4 Sailfish and 1 Blue Marlin, so he decided to shake it up and try an Inshore Trip.

Now with that being said, the day he had last year would make most Fisherman weak in the knees how do you follow that up???? Well Did Captain Oscar and Vinny on the Mar 1 Raise the bar for next year.

Quepos Fishing Report Totals for the day of fishing was 4 Roosters, 1 Big Barracuda and a triggerfish. The Rooster fish were nice one in the 40 pound and one in the 50 pound class, what a great day of Fishing in Quepos

Quepos Fishing Charters March 27 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 27 Mar 1 Sport fishing clients started with day three of four on their Quepos Fishing Charters today.

Total Quepos Fishing count for this group is steadily rising so we were hoping that they have some more good luck today. With Captain Oscar and Vinny on the Mar 1 31' Bertram

Looking for some revenge from the Pacific Bucket Fish today these guys were hungry to add to the great catches they have already had here in Quepos, Costa Rica. They were ready for the BIG one today and Oscar was heading for that "spot" looking for the Marlin that would set this Quepos Fishing Vacation OFF

Well they got what they asked for today fans, Captain Oscar and Vinny managed to Raise a pile of Sailfish with the Mar 1 and went 3 for 5 on solid hook ups. The Real fight was when they managed to somehow hook into a Dolphin, and I don't mean a Mahi-Mahi I mean a Dolphin like Flipper of the spinner variety.

After fighting with this fish they cried "NO MAS" after about 20 Min and we tried to get as much line a possible back and cut the line. What a show they got though, and we thought Sailfish were acrobatic, they say this fish was 20 feet out of the water on one occasion" .

Quepos Fishing Charters March 26 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 26 Mar 1 Sport fishing hosted return clients from earlier in the week that fished with Captain Melvin and today they got a shot with Captain Oscar and Vinny on the Mar 1.

This was a last shot for these guys with them flying out of Quepos today late afternoon and we were glad to be able to fit them in for a short day Offshore Quepos Fishing on the hunt for some more Sails and maybe a Marlin to their Quepos Fishing Vacation Totals

Quepos Fishing Report for March 26 2011 the actual fish counts was not what we would have hoped for they were 1 for 2 for a half day. I guess considering the actual fishing time you get on a half day of Offshore Fishing that's not bad at all.

Quepos Fishing Charters March 25 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 25 Mar 1 Sport fishing clients started with day two of four on their Quepos Fishing Adventure today.

This was a great day I was able to join these guys today to get some Pictures and Video for you as well there my fine feathered friends. And if you keep reading you will find out why the Video is so worth watching…. He he he

OK back to the Quepos Fishing Report for the actual fish counts you say, again using live bait today in hope of adding to yesterdays Fishing totals, and again Captain Oscar and Vinny on the Mar 1 were able to put some fish on the hook for these guys, as well as another interesting catch.

Sailfish totals for today were 3 for 5 on Sails and one for one Pacific Fish, yes that's right fans a Pacific Bucket Fish you have to see the pictures here, and remember I also said we had video here as well and will post it asap.

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 24 Mar 1 Sport fishing clients started with day one of four on their Quepos Fishing Adventure today.

Mar 1 Quepos Sport fishing clients headed out with Capt. Johnny and Louis today and were in search for more Rooster fish, as Jerry had yet to get one this trip, and man did they have a great day with 3 Roosters and 1 mackerel.

We were hoping for a sooner than later arrival this morning with these guys who were driving from San Jose this morning, and who also had never drove from San Jose to Quepos / Manuel Antonio before. Low and behold they managed to show up just before 8 so we were in good shape. After a quick change and a luggage shuffle they were ready to start their Quepos Fishing Charter with us.

On day 1 they boys were using live Bonita for bait in search for this groups first ever Quepos, Costa Rica Sailfish, Marlin or any other type of Quepos offshore fish as they had never been here before. Over all a good day they were able to go 2 for 4 on Sailfish and were hungry for more Quepos Fishing Action tomorrow.

Quepos Fishing Charters March 23 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 23 Mar 1 Sport fishing clients started with day 3 of three for their Quepos Fishing Adventure today.

Question of the day was to stay inshore or head offshore for the last day with a real good chance to get something BIG. The decision was made and they stayed inshore for another not so productive day with a trip to get Jacks from under the shrimp boat, they came back a little early so they could get a head start to the drive back to San Jose.

Mar 1's Quepos Fishing Charters was happy we could be a part of their 3 day fishing vacation here in Quepos, Costa Rica

Quepos Fishing Charters March 22 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 22 Mar 1 Sport fishing clients started with day 2 of three for their Quepos Fishing Adventure today.

The plan was to stay inshore off Quepos and Manuel Antonio in looks for some inshore giants. The fishing inshore today was not what you would like to expect however it was a good day. Fish count 1 Rooster Fish and 1 Jack

Quepos Fishing Charters March 21 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 21 Mar 1 Sport fishing was glad to be the host for 3 groups heading out for their Quepos Fishing Adventure today.

Quepos Fishing Charter TOTAL fish count for today was 12 for 19 Sails 2 Mahi-Mahi 1 Rooster fish and 1 Jack What Quepos Fishing Excitement with the Mar 1 Team

Mar 1 31' Bertram with Captain was in shore today and got the 1 Rooster and 1 Jack, great day but slow fishing with these huge tides we have been getting recently the inshore bite has suffered. We hope they have better luck on their day 2 of 3 tomorrow with Captain Oscar on the Mar 1 31' Bertram

Sea Lady Today was 9 for 12 on Sails and 2 Mahi-Mahi, a great shot notice trip for these clients and it paid off for them. With 6 clients on board looking to fish there is always that risk the one is coming back Heart Broken from their Quepos Fishing Adventure

Costa Brava was.. well were aren't sure as to what the fish were thinking for Captan Melvin going 3 for 7…..hmm mm Que Pasa Senior….They did manage to keep the clients occupied and they were well entertained

Wild Lady was 15 for 21 on Sails and they were out in the pack not fishing with Mar 1 Clients but these catch are definitely worth the mention as we support these great boats.

Quepos Fishing Charters March 20 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 20 we were looking to knock off another fish of the list for the boys from home.

We had the wives out to day with them for a half day inshore to try their luck with some inshore fishing. They had a great day on the water with Oscar as the inshore sights here in Quepos are amazing, we could make that a tour all on it's own.

Quepos Fishing Charter fish count for today was 1 Rooster fish and we had a great day of Quepos Fishing Excitement on the Mar 1 with Captain Oscar

Quepos Fishing Charters March 18 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 18 was going to be interesting as we have had no luck at all with friends and family from home on the Mar 1. Today we were looking to get rid of that monkey, not only did we get rid of him but we slammed him in the water overboard at 26 miles when we hooked our first fish within 5 minutes of the lines being in the water.

Neither of the clients today had been Offshore fishing for Sailfish so when we got that first hit and that fish exploded out of the water it was an epic moment that I am sure will last in their memories forever.

Quepos Fishing Charter fish count for today was 7 for 10 on Sails and we had a great day of Quepos Fishing Excitement on the Mar 1 with Captain Oscar

quepos-fishingquepos-fishing-charter

Quepos Fishing Charters March 17 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 17 was supposed to be a full day offshore but with the bite being as far as it was the clients decided to stay inshore for the day.

The catch for today wasn't really great but it was what the clients wanted as they wanted something that they could eat. Quepos Fishing totals today for the Mar 1 was 4 Spanish Mackerel and 1 Rainbow runner.

Quepos Fishing Charters March 16 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 16 was the final day for the clients on the Mar 1 and they were hoping to add to the totals for their 3 day Quepos Fishing Adventure. I would like to add at this point that there are no pictures of fish for this report because there was no fish pulled out of the water, these clients had caught fish earlier in the week so they didn't need their "hero shots" and all fish were released safely and carefully as always on this Quepos Fishing Charter.

The catch for this group today was 5 sails and 1 mahi-mahi so that brings their 2 day Quepos Offshore Fishing total to 10 Sails and 1 mahi-mahi. Their stay here was an amazing Adventure and they all vowed to be back to see us again in Quepos

Quepos Fishing Charters March 15 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 15. Well Fans today brought us a soggy morning and man was it raining so we loaded wet clients and as they all left poof it stopped and I just had this feeling that it was going to be a great day of fishing out of Quepos.

queposquepos-fishing

Mar 1 Sport fishing had 3 boats on the books today all of them are memorable so the only way to add these great Quepos Fishing Reports are from top to bottom and here we go.

quepos-fishing-charterquepos-fishing-charters

Quepos Fishing Charters top boat for us today was Captain Oscar and Vinny on the Mar 1 31' Bertram, they spanked it today folks. Going 12 for 20 on Sails 1 for 1 on Turtle releases it was an action packed day for the Newlyweds we had on the Mar 1. They definitely got the Quepos Fishing Adventure they were looking for with Mar 1 Sport fishing and the crew on the Mar 1 great job boys

quepos-sport-fishingquepos-sport-fishing-charters

Quepos Fishing Charters March 15 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charters second place boat today was a great trip provided for us by the Mirce Azul, I've said it before and I will say it again these guys Rock. Going 6 for 12 the Mar 1 Sport fishing clients were kept on their toes as well. I warned them in the morning to watch these guys as they are always up to something and they provided again a Great Quepos Fishing Adventure for us, great job guys

Quepos Fishing Charters March 15 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charters pulling up the rear today is actually unfair for Captain Melvin on the Costa Brava as they had a short day. They left first this morning but this group had plans later as this was the boys trip before the Wedding rehearsal this afternoon and we were under strict orders from the bride to be that they had to be clean and to the beach by 4.. hmm so there went the idea of dropping them off on the beach… So as I get to the pier to meet our clients I didn't see anything, no one on the horizon…oh no I'm dead is what I'm thinking , then all of a sudden here comes Captain Melvin from their Quepos Fishing Charter with the clients and boy was he moving. They were 5 for 8 on Sailfish, so they all got one and we had them in a cab by 3 so we were good, and again as always Captain Melvin gave the clients the Quepos Fishing Adventure they were looking for.

Quepos Fishing Charter March 14 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 14 was day 2 of 3 for clients on what they are hoping to have an amazing Quepos Fishing Charter Vacation with us here in Quepos.

Inshore fishing was on the slate for the clients today, and only 2 of 3 clients showed up so we were hoping for a great day for them on the Mar 1 !! With Captain Oscar on the sidelines for a couple weeks they were ready for a great day.

Quepos Fishing Charter fish count for these clients today wasn't what we were hoping as they only managed to get 1 Mackerel to the boat, however they did have 6 other fish on that took them into the rocks and cut them off.

Costa Rica Classic

Costa Rica Fishing Classic the final numbers are in and there was 157 fish released in 2 Days!! The top boats ranked as following

  • G-Rod
  • Bill fisher
  • Orjan 3

Quepos Fishing Charter March 13 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 13 started day 1 of 3 for clients on what they are hoping to have an amazing Quepos Fishing Charter Vacation with us here in Quepos.

The crew were able to find a nice bait ball right at the beginning of the day so they had a lot of live bait for the Sailfish to chase after. They managed out really well but ended up a lot farther out than we usually run and most of the fish were caught in the 40 mile range, which was going to make for a long run home, but with the action they had the long run back to Quepos was going to be worth it.

Quepos Fishing Charter fish count for these clients was 5 for 8 on Sailfish and they had a marlin up in the spread killing the baits but just would not commit to a hook, sometimes you just can't make them big Marlin bite as much as everyone wants them to.

Quepos Fishing Charter March 12 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 12 we had a family heading out today with their 3 small children to see if they could get them into some big Sailfish. Fishing in Quepos with children is probably what I would consider my favorite, really is there anything better than seeing a 9 year old boy catching a fish that weighs more than him!!

The family had a great day on board with us and saw lots of Dolphins, sea turtles among other sea life that you would expect to see here in beautiful Quepos Costa Rica.

Quepos Fishing Charter fish count for these clients was 2 for 3 on Sailfish and they lost both of the Dorado they had hooked up, they have 5 more days for their Quepos Fishing Vacation in Costa Rica we hope they have a blast.

Costa Rica Classic results

The Costa Rica Classic Day 2 was full of surprises; lots of fish caught the top boat today release 16 Sails and 1 Blue Marlin. At the end of the day however there was a big discrepancy, as well as a formal written protest about 1 of the boats, when we get a handle on the complete final results we will be posting them here for all to see.

Quepos Fishing Charter March 11 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 11 was day 3 for clients today and the plan was to so a full day Inshore, but with the luck they have been having offshore they decided to head offshore instead. The morning started out very interesting with a huge earthquake in Japan and a warning of a tsunami heading for us we weren't sure what to do, to fish or not to fish this was the question?? Bottom line here folks is if they were off shore when this impending wave hit they were safer offshore than here in town so they decided to go ride it out.

Quepos was expecting this tsunami to land around 4:40, so we had a close eye on the news and the threat seemed to be dwindling, the funny part was that half of Quepos and Manuel Antonio were standing on the sea wall in Quepos to see this incoming wave, about the worst possible place to be but there the people were waiting to see…. And thankfully there was nothing, not even really a ripple. I do believe that this great mass of water moving did affect the bite for the today as they were 1 for 3 on Sails so not a really good day but fun was still had by all.

Quepos Fishing Charter fish count for these clients was an amazing 15 for 23 over their 3 day Quepos Fishing Vacation in Costa Rica

Costa Rica Classic results

The Costa Rica Classic started today here in Quepos for the 2 day tournament, again with the impending tsunami there was definitely some mixed emotions this morning in the marina as to what the day was going to bring. At the end o the day the leading boat with 11 releases, and the bottom boat with nada. With today the second and last day we will post the results as we get them

Quepos Fishing Charter March 9 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 9 started with a Great sunset while waiting for the clients from Day 2 of their Quepos Fishing Vacation, we were supposed to go Inshore today with a bit of bad water we decided to send them Offshore instead. When they returned today from their Quepos Fishing Charter the stories were just a blur as they all started trying to recap the day for us.

Quepos Fishing stories at the end of the day are what keep us going; they are amazing and today they were no exception. The triple hook up was one of the stories that seemed to top the list, and when you release 2 of 3 of them makes it even better. To hear about being in a bait ball so thick that the Bonita were literally jumping out of the water to bite the hooks??? Oh yes fans they were animated and to hear they have a lot of this on video is even more interesting we hop to be able to get some of it from them

Quepos Fishing Charter fish count from today was 20+ bites and 7 of 10 good hook ups on Sailfish, another GREAT day of Quepos Fishing Excitement in Costa Rica

Quepos Fishing Charters March 7 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report for March 7 is a great one all around, just not sure exactly where to start. Let's start with our clients first after a day to settle in at the great house they are staying at for the week they were ready to start their Quepos Fishing Charter Vacation with a bang, so after a little bit of a slow start after some last minute stops at the pier they were off in search of some Quepos Fishing excitement. On their arrival back to the pier we were hearing some great reports from other boats so things were looking good for them, as the last of the boats came in we were wondering… Did these guys get lost??? But when the fishing is that good sometimes the Quepos Fishing fleet will stay out a little longer. On their arrival back they were truly amazed at the entire day, from how calm the water was to the quantity and size of the fish they landed, total fish count for them was 7 for 10 Sailfish. Other reports we got were just as good as well the Blue Pearl 2 released 5 sails and 2 Mahi-Mahi, the Cowboy released 5 Sailfish and a Yellow fin tuna the client say was 180#!!!

Quepos Fishing Charters March 5 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charter Report, we were on a San José run today to drop a group off at the airport and get the next lucky group that we have coming in for some Quepos Fishing Excitement. Some reports we got on our arrival back to Quepos were, Blue Pearl 2 got 1 Sail and 1 Mahi, the Pez Espada released 8 Sails, and the Blue Water boats released 7 sails and 1 Dorado.

Quepos Fishing Charters March 4 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charters Report, clients were back today for day 4, Back offshore for some bottom fishing and some offshore trolling. OK so this group has already had some amazing days and has got some amazing video and pictures as well. Captain Melvin, and Captain Oscar as mate did it again and got this group hooked up on fish and lots of them. They also managed to give Oscar a heart failure when one client was in the water getting some underwater footage of the 300#+ Blue Marlin they had on when it took off straight for him and just missed!!! Imagine having a fish that size come at you, the footage will be amazing. Total fish count for this Quepos Fishing Charter on the Costa Brava was 1 Blue Marlin 300+, 1 Sailfish, 22 Amberjacks, yes 22 and 4 Yellow fin Tunas just the right size for Sashimi. So for those of you keeping track that's 1 Blue Marlin, 19 Sails, 4 Mahi Mahi, 22 Amberjacks and 4 Yellow Fin Tuna off shore and 4 Rooter fish and 2 Jacks to round out 4 days of Quepos Fishing Charters Excitement

Quepos Fishing Charters March 3 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charters Report, clients were back today for day 3, and so far they are off to a great start so let's hope that they can continue the Roll. Quepos was HOT this morning and they were blessed with nice weather the prior days but today fans I was scared that we were going to be unloading Lobsters at the end of the Charter. Again the team of Captain Melvin at the helm and Captain Oscar playing mate in the pit was a deadly force and worked out great for the clients. The bite was good and steady all day with lots of fish hooked and then running for the rocks and cutting the lines. Total fish released were 4 Nice Roosters the biggest was about 45# and 2 big Jacks, so overall another great Quepos Fishing Charter

Quepos Fishing Charters March 2 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charters Report, clients were back today for day 3 of their Quepos Fishing Vacation with us, and so far they are off to a great start so let's hope that they can continue the Roll. Quepos was HOT this morning and they were blessed with nice weather the prior days but today fans I was scared that we were going to be unloading Lobsters at the end of the Charter. Offshore there were some clouds and a nice breeze so they managed to not get to hot and had a great day. The fishing however was not as nice as the weather was however they had some action and managed to release 1 Sail in the morning, but after lunch was very slow, we had a big storm move in so we think that that was what shut the bite off. The storm came up the coast and looked like it was staying away for their arrival back to Quepos but then all of a sudden the wind changed and you could see the wall of rain coming for us, we got everyone in the car thank goodness before the skies opened up and we got another large rain fall for a couple hours.

Quepos Fishing Charters March 1 2010 report

Quepos Fishing Charters Report, we were graced with 2 boats fishing with us again today, 1 Inshore and 1 offshore to see if they could pull off a repeat performance of yesterdays amazing Quepos Fishing Catch Rate. Both of these Quepos Fishing Boats had great days so I think that we will cover the Offshore fishing boat first as we are all waiting to hear how the fishing was today out there after yesterdays Amazing Quepos Fishing Report

The Costa Brava with Captain Melvin and his son and Captain Oscar as mates were off in search of that great Quepos Fishing Bite that they were graced with yesterday. They headed straight to the area that they had such luck yesterday and it was very different today, just not the same so they kept looking for the Sail fish, Marlin, something. They didn't find the numbers they did but did manage to stay busy enough this Quepos Fishing Charter managed to release 4 of 8 Sail fish and were again 2 for 2 on Mahi-Mahi so they day was still productive. So this 2 day Quepos Fishing Charter produced 18 released Sail fish and 4 Mahi Mahi, I mean really how much more could you ask for.

Quepos Fishing Charters Rooster fish Action definitely was hot today as a report From the IDRA II was also one filled with a Giant Rooster fish as the highlight of the Charter today as well. Here is the picture:

Quepos Fishing Charters amazing report!!

Quepos Fishing Reports that show the drive in the fisherman here in Quepos. This crew goes out with clients and has what any crew or owner dread they have a problem and loose 1 engine, so on 1 engine they manage to get the clients off on another boat so they can continue their day. So from 40+ miles they start to head home at a slow troll and decide hey we might as well fish on the way right? So after many Sail fish hit their teasers they see a pod of dolphins and decide to through a ballyhoo in and see what happens, well Quepos Fishing Charter fans let me tell you what happens, they hook up and what comes next is a 5hour 22min fight with a 200#+ Yellow Fin Tuna!!! WOW what a day they managed to pull back into the marina at 4am. Needless to say there are a pile of people having some delicious Yellow Fin Tuna for supper tonight, and we were lucky enough to get a Piece Thanks again Guys!!

OK on to day 2 Quepos fishing charters for the in shore group who got 3 sail fish their first time out on Sunday. This morning on the dock in conversation with the clients there wasn't a Rooster fish story out of any of them, not one of them has had the Great opportunity to tangle with a Rooster fish on a Quepos Fishing Charter, or on any other Fishing Charter for that matter. This Quepos Fishing Charter was again one with lots of good steady action, they had a number of bites, fights and breaks off's but were Lucky enough to tango with Mr. Rooster fish, as a matter of fact the third angler decided that all that looked like too much work and she was happy to just watch. Total production on this Quepos fishing Charter were 4 nice rooster releases, the lunker of the trip was a Rooster fish in the 60# range, we have seen the pictures and will post them as soon as we get them some very nice Rooster fish here.

OK so if I wanted to hand pick a crew today was the crew I would pick, clients on the Costa Brava today were blessed with not only Captain Melvin and his son but Captain Oscar as well made the trip as a second mate!!! That just looks funny to see Captain Oscar as the mate, but combined there was almost 50 years of Quepos Fishing Experience on the Costa Brava today. OK enough of that, on to the fish count, well let's talk hook ups first, there was 3 doubles and 1 triple hook up if you can believe that!!! So in total they were 14 for 18 on Sailfish and 2 for 2 on Mahi-Mahi. Really what more could you ask for when on a Quepos Fishing Charter.

Today we were lucky enough to have 2 boats fishing for us here in Quepos. We had 1 set of clients on the Blue Pearl 2 and the 5 of them had a great day on the water. Fish count was 3 for 5 on Sails and they had 1 Blue Marlin in the spread that just wouldn't commit to taking a bait, however sometimes just seeing a big Marlin in the spread is enough. We also had clients on the Cowboy with Captain Jerry and this group was starting their Quepos Fishing Charters Vacation with us and it was their first day of 3 fishing. One of the clients was looking to fulfill a bucket list dream to catch a Sailfish. They were greatly rewarded with 3 of 5 Sails released so they all got to fight a Sailfish on their first day; they return Tuesday for a day of Inshore Quepos Fishing Excitement.

Quepos Fishing Charters reports from today were great but not as hot and the fish were still a long ways out. Hoping for a great day we loaded the clients they were in search of a Quepos Fishing Charters like they had on Saturday. They had a great day seeing some big schools of Dolphin and also saw some Whales free jumping which is always an experience to be amazed by. They were peppered with nice consistent action but he fish weren't quite as hungry as yesterday and they went 2 for 5 on god solid hook ups. Great group of guys we hope to see them next year again.

Quepos Fishing Charters reports from yesterday were great; the fish however were a long ways out. Hoping for a great day Oscar loaded the clients and headed for the horizon in search for the fish. They found them and then some, Oscar told me this morning that the bite yesterday reminded him of fishing here 15 years ago there was so many Sailfish in the area. Oscar put it like this…If it wasn't for the stupid Blue Marlin wasting almost 3 hours of the day we could have maybe released 20 Sails…. The only person in the world that would complain about a Big Blue Marlin if you can believe that, he would rather release many Sailfish than spend all day fighting 1 fish. Total Quepos Fishing Charters Catch for the Mar 1 today was 3 Sailfish and a #400+ pound Blue marlin.

Quepos Fishing Charters Feb.. 19 2011 Quepos Fishing Report

Quepos Fishing Report for today we had one of our favorite return clients back in Quepos for a couple days of Quepos Offshore Fishing Excitement with us. The group was a little larger today so we decided to put them on the Costa Brava with Captain Melvin so we knew that they were going to be taken care of. Fish count was 6 for 6 on Sails, but more important the stories at the dock on their return were amazing; Captain Melvin flying off the bridge to set hooks, the clients described him as a crazy cat … At 1 point in the day it was time for Captain Melvin's son who is also the mate to get some seat time up at the helm so Captain Melvin could come down and play mate and spend some time with the clients. Overall another fantastic Quepos Fishing Charter out of Quepos Costa Rica, and another set of happy client that are returning Monday for a date with Captain Oscar on the Mar 1.

Quepos Fishing Report for February 17 2011

Well fans it's a sad day in Quepos today, I don't know how to say this but the boys were unsuccessful today. I don't know how to put it any other way, after so many successful trips together on the Mar 1 together TODAY fans they just couldn't keep the streak alive and they did manage to miss 2 fish. However when they managed to only miss 2 of 8 that means they went 6 for 8 on Sailfish and managed a nice Mahi-Mahi for supper!!!! So being that they did come home with supper we will have to let the 2 misses' slide for today. All but 1 of the 5 clients today had never caught a Sailfish so we made 4 peoples Quepos Fishing Charters dream a reality today on the Mar 1!!!

Quepos Fishing Report for February 16 2011

OK so when your day starts by listening to the Captains all crying about how slow yesterday was, and knowing that the moon is getting bigger and that will probably make things worse.. You almost know what the report is going to be at the end of the day, but hey that’s why it’s called fishing and is why we all love the sport. The report for today was that the boys went 100% again and there were murmurs about “that’s the biggest Sail I’ve ever seen” you know that the fish was a monster. Fish count was 1 for 1 on Sail fish; again quality was the name of the game today folks this was a BIG female in the 130# class. That kind of fish you just don’t see every day, and to make this an even better Quepos Fishing Report….It was the guys first Sail fish EVER… Great Job boys.

Quepos Fishing Report for February 15 2011

Another Fabulous day on the water, here in Quepos, and today we managed to be a part of a surprise Birthday present and were they rewarded with some amazing fish. Now this is a story worth telling, today’s clients were a great young couple from Colorado and he loves doing word searches so this loving woman takes the time to make a word search for him to inform him that his present is a day of Quepos Fishing Excitement on the Mar 1. What mare could a guy ask for right? Well…. The saying of the day today was definitely quality and not quantity, and when your crew goes out and performs at 100% again, what else is there to say. We started the day 1 for 1 on Bobby birds, ha ha ha and then proceeded to go 3 for 3 on Sailfish, the first one was a monster, and they were all beautiful fish to say the least.

Quepos Fishing Report from February 11 2011.

We were blessed with 2 trips today, 2 half day inshore trips now it was just too bad the fish weren't cooperating. The morning trip we had a few of the local gringos on the boat and 2 out of the 3 of them were looking for their first Rooster fish. We hit the rocks and got nada, Vinny was even throwing poppers to see if we could get some action. Then off to the River mouth we went looking for some Snook, fish count at the river 1 Catfish…oh my Back to the rock to try for Roosters, we managed a few bites but the fish went straight back to the rocks and all we got were some sawed off lines. Oh Well what can you do the clients still had a great time and will be back.

The Afternoon group was a family from Ocean City and as we all know Captain Oscar loves having the little ones on the boat so we were hoping that the bite was better than this morning. Off to the North they went to try the Partita River for Roosters and Snook but the waves were far to big to try that so they trolled the beach in search for some Mackerels , they were rewarded with 1 nice Jack and finished the day off with some snorkeling and a little sunset cruise, as the clients put it when they got off “It was an amazing trip” and we will see you again.

Quepos Fishing Report February 5, 2011

Quepos Fishing Charters at their finest here folks, the tide was perfect for the clients today on their half day Inshore Quepos Fishing Charter. The weather here in Quepos was terrific and there was just enough cloud cover to keep it from not getting too hot for everyone onboard the Mar 1. Today’s Quepos Fishing Report not only includes some great catches as well as some great highlights that not everyone gets to see. So now what do we report first? Most of you reading this are looking for a Fishing Report, so here you go. The bite wasn't’t really hot but the quality of the fish that were caught more than made up for it as a good part of the day they spent fighting fish. The Monster Rooster fish that was caught was pushing 60# and took almost an hour to get to the boat. They also managed to get a couple Jacks of a monster size. The pictures are a must see for these fish.

quepos_fishing_reportCosta_Rica_fishing_report

In between the non fishing time the clients were treated to some amazing Whale jumps right out in front of Manuel Antonio National Park, we were able to get them in a few shots but to say that they caught us off guard would be an understatement.

Quepos, Costa Fishing Report Feb.. 3 2011

What a great day on the water, being 100% on hook ups always makes the day go quick that’s for sure. The fish count for the day was 3 for 3 on Sailfish and 2 for 2 on Mahi-Mahi. With the moon the cycle it is in we knew we could get the fish to the boat, Bertram's raise fish and when your crew follows up with a 100% hook up rate!!!..... It just makes for great day. The day didn’t start out very positive with the clients being skunked on a different boat on Monday and wanted to do inshore instead, but we talked them into going offshore, sometimes you just have to go when the moon is right. They were rewarded as 2 of the clients took home the leaders from the first ever Quepos Sailfish, and have the leader and hook to go with the pictures.

Quepos Deep Sea Fishing Charters Report for January 31 2011

Great day to be on the water, with the moon the way it is we were expecting a great bite today, if wasn't real great but there was some great catches in it. The totals were 1 for 3 on Sails and a perfect 1 for 1 on Mahi. Both fish released were first catches for both clients so everyone went home with a smile. Dan from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada was lucky enough to land his first catch in Quepos, Costa Rica and it was a beautiful Sailfish. Matt from England also Checked his Catch a Fish in Quepos, Costa Rica card by landing a great Mahi. If you know or ever meet him and he doesn't admit that that Mahi gave him a good work out, we my friend have the video to prove it.

Quepos Deep Sea Fishing Charters Report January 21-27 2011

The Marlin bite still continues here in Quepos, Costa Rica with most of the boats collecting 3-5 Sails in a day and some are getting lucky enough to still get a chance to play with a Marlin. The Harry Grey Fly Fishing Tournament Starts on the 24th so we wish all the boats in that great tournament luck. The Blue water 2 got 3 Sails on the 24th, Blue Pearl 2 got 3 Sails on the 27th, with the moon getting smaller we hope that the bite picks up here and we get a few double digit reports here in the next couple weeks.

Quepos Fishing Report January 20 2011

Clients today were excited to get out as 1 of them had never caught a billfish before, and as we circulated on the marina fuel dock and were hearing the bad reports yesterday, knowing that the full moon was last night saying that the other Captains spirits were low was an understatement. With the knowledge that the clients were getting on the Mar1 a 31' Bertram fish raising machine, with a Captain at the helm with 25+ years experience here in Quepos all we could do was wish them luck. When they returned with huge smiles we knew that everything worked out, 2 for 2 on Sailfish, 1 of the 2 was in the 160# range and was a beautiful fish. here are some pictures of her

Quepos Fishing Report January 19 2011

The Mar1 was on the prowl today for some Rooster fish, and after the massive downpour we had last night we were leery about what the fish would be doing, when we got to the dock they weren't even able to get some live bait overnight for us so that wasn't looking good. We loaded up the clients and after we heard that they were completely skunked the previous 2 days on other boats the pressure was on. Up to the river they went and there was schools of Sardines everywhere, but they wouldn't bite. This is not a good sign when ever the bait won't bite...lol However we did get them fish it wasn't the Roosters that they were looking for ut they got 4 nice Jacks so they were just happy to get something

Quepos Fishing Reports January 17 2011

we had a couple guys out today for a 3/4 day of bottom fishing, with in 5 minutes Vinny had a nice Snapper hooked up and after the clients switched off 4 times the fish ran into the rocks and cut the line, there was a couple more hits but the fishermen just weren't prepared for the Quepos Fishing experience and lost every fish they had hooked but 1 nice Blue runner. We did manage to set them up for a 1/2 day inshore fishing tomorrow with a smaller boat.

Quepos Fishing Reports January 12 2011

Captain Oscar on the Mar 1 had 3 clients on board today for what was looking like a promising day, the total fish count was 1 for 3 on Sails and 0 for 1 with a blue marlin

Quepos Fishing Reports January 11 2011

Today the Mar1 with Captain Oscar and Vinny we had a couple of moms and their Children. The fish count really doesn't matter because this was again a day that will be in memories for years. The count was however 12 mackerel,4 jack trevel,1 rooster but the pictures really say it all

The fishing report for today was a great one, there were so many fish around the Mar1 that there was no way to get an actual count, the difference was today we were not chasing them with hooks... We has the snorkeling gear out and had an amazing day with Captain Oscar and his family and a few of our good friends aboard. Today Captain Oscars 2 boys got their first snorkeling experience and I am sure the memories will last forever.

With the year coming to an end we can wrap this years fishing report up, we hope that this Amazing Marlin bite sticks around for the coming tourists, and that the Sailfish start coming in as well. The Mahi bite was weirdly slow this year with all the rain we had it was looking to be a great Mahi season but the Mahi just never really showed up, oh well we will take the Marlin bite of the Mahi bite any day. So from Mar1 Sport fishing have a great New Years Eve and stay out of trouble!!
